Believe it or not, it was actually Dannii who got the first break. Dannii landed a plum job singing and dancing in top Aussie show, "Young Talent Time". Whenever Kylie was introduced on TV, it was always as Dannii's sister. Both girls went for the same part in "The Henderson Kids" and even though Dannii was the more famous of the two, the director (Alan Hardy) decided to go for the elder sister. Alan Hardy says that Kylie came very prepared for the role. Apparantly, she turned up dressed just like the character, which although many adult actors do this, Alan was very impressed that a kid should think of it.

Dannii says that even though both girls were still living at home during this period, it was very difficult for them to spend any real time together. It was a case of "Hi--bye" as they passed in the doorway at home! According to Kylie, if they were both at home at the same time, then they were usually both asleep! It was only as Kylie's singing career took off that the girls got a chance to see more of each other.

"I Should Be So Lucky" was the start of an amazing recording career. Her next 12 singles all went into the top 6 in Britain, including 4 number ones. Her third single was a SAW re-recording of the song that had made her name as a singer, "The Locomotion". She had 18 hits in total for Stock, Aitken and Waterman and then decided that it was time to branch out in her career and try a more "adult" sound. She signed for Deconstruction, the label that had a number one hit in 1989 with "Ride On Time" by Black Box.
