The "Fever" album took the music buying world by storm. It even conquered America, reaching number 3. "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" became a major world-wide hit. It marked a change in direction from the previous album "Light Years" and it would be a further change in direction when the next album, "Body Language" was released in 2003. To mark the release of "Body Language", Kylie did an invitation only concert at Hammersmith Odeon in London in November 2003. This was later released on DVD.

As an aside to making music, Kylie also tried her hand at making movies. She had already had a successful movie in 1989 when she starred in "Delinquents". Most of the movies she had parts in were mainly ones that weren't going to be major box office hits, but ones that Kylie herself thought seemed to be enjoyable movies, or something that would stretch her acting abilities. Three of these were "Bio-Dome", "Cut" and "Sample People".

"Bio-Dome" starred Pauly Shore, Stephen Baldwin and William Atherton. The movie blurb describes the movie as such:-
"Five brave scientists are about to face life forms more perplexing, more terrifying, more annoying than anything they've ever encountered: Pauly Shore and William Baldwin! Welcome to Bio-Dome, an outrageous comedy from the producers of Dumb And Dumber. Shore and Baldwin are Bud and Doyle, two goofball slackers who have forged deep meaningful relationships with their remote controls. Their fed-up girlfriends ( Joey Adams and Theresa Hill) want them to clean up their act - and help pick up trash on Earth Day - but saving the planet is just not on their agenda. However, Bud and Doyle get more than they bargained for when they are unwittingly sealed for a year inside the Bio-Dome, an environmentally controlled scientific community - with no fast food! At first they wreak hilarious havoc, driving the projects leader (Atherton) totally bonkers. But before long, the two must prove there's more inside their skulls than sawdust if they're to save the Bio-Dome and win the respect of their ecology-minded girlfriends. With non-stop excitement and a soundtrack hotter than global warming, Bio-Dome is a controlled experiment in uncontrolled laugh-riot lunacy!".

This movie was made in 1996 and carried a "12" certificate.

"Cut" was a slash horror movie along the same lines of the "Scream" trilogy. Kylie only actually appeared in the first few moments before being brutally murdered! The movie blurb describes "Cut" as follows:-
"It's been fifteen years since the director of the ill-fated horror flick HOT BLOODED was mysteriously and brutally murdered. Since then, the film has remained unfinished and sealed away. However, a young group of aspiring film makers and horror enthusiasts have seized the opportunity to complete the legendary film, and begin to film once again on location. But there was a reason the movie was never finished, and as students begin to disappear, the film makers begin to discover why."
This movie was never released in the UK and I have only been able to pick it up on a Thai import DVD. The rating would be a "15".

"Sample People" was released in 2002 and again wasn't available in the UK. It is a bold step for Kylie. The tag-line on the movie says "Forget what you know about Kylie Minogue - In Sample People she will blow you away". The movie was given an "18" rating. This is what the blurb has to say:-
"Sample People takes you on a journey through rave culture's most extreme collection of individuals as they struggle to keep their heads straight in one seriously stuffed up weekend. Experience a feverish mix of sex, drugs, music, violence and young party people seeking a good time. Among them are notorious gangster TT and his sexually frustrated girlfriend Jess played by international superstar Kylie Minogue. A film exploding with colour and sound, Sample People is a striking and sexy look at a side of Australian life never seen before and offers a once in a lifetime performance by the gorgeous Kylie Minogue. Explore Australia's underground rave scene, and discover its hidden dark side."
It is a very dark movie, but it does feature "Real Thing" as the soundtrack song, which is a very good Kylie song which has never been released.

In 2005, Kylie voiced the character of Florence in the new animated "The Magic Roundabout" movie. The movie also included the vocal talents of Robbie Williams, Tom Baker, Bill Nighy, Lee Evans and Joanna Lumley, among others. Kylie recorded the self-titled soundtrack song. Just after completing this movie, during the Showgirl tour, Kylie discovered that she had breast cancer.  Due to this, she took nearly 18 months off work and away from the limelight.  She came back in style at the end of 2006 with the "Showgirl Homecoming" tour.  I was honoured to be in the audience at Wembley Arena on January 2nd 2007 when she played her first UK date since her illness.
