On Tuesday May 14, 2002, I went to see Kylie in concert at Sheffield Arena. I had a seating ticket and I was seated only 5 rows from the end of the cat-walk where Kylie spent a fair amount of the show. The view was amazing and the set was excellent.

At the sides of the stage were two big screens. These were used during the show to display specially shot footage which enhanced what was happenening on the stage. After a break of what seemed like eternity after the support act had finished, the lights went down and suddenly we heard through the speakers the clip of Kylie from Moulin Rouge, singing "The hills are alive to the sound of music". Then the curtain fell away and the show started!!

After the first couple of songs, Kylie announced that there had been some kind of "technical hitch". She had a look around the audience and pulled a guy called Andy (see the photo above) up on the stage with her!! She asked what song would he like to sing with her and after Andy got all embarassed and wouldn't sing, Kylie treated us to a chorus of "Where The Wild Roses Grow". After this, the problem was sorted and we were able to continue the show as planned!

After doing a couple of tracks from "Fever", and "Spinning Around", Kylie then did a medley of love songs and towards the end of this medley, rose petals fell down onto the audience. During this song, Kylie's voice sounded better than I have ever heard it sound before.

We were then treated to a song I never expected to hear in concert, GBI (German Bold Italic). At this point, Kylie was getting changed and the dancers were left on stage to perform to this song, along with images on the screens. It came over very well in a live setting. We also had songs from the "Impossible Princess" album. All-in-all, Kylie did 2 hours and featured songs from all stages of her career. If you didn't manage to catch this show live - you missed a treat! But you do have the opportunity to watch it on video or DVD - Live In Manchester.
