Wembley Concert

The show was a continuation of the Showgirl Tour that Kylie had cut short in 2005 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. A lot of the set list was the same but a handful of songs had been dropped (including my favourite "live" song, "Your Disco Needs You") and these were replaced by other songs. This was the third time I've seen Kylie in concert and it was the first time she hadn't used a support act. Also this time, she had a 20 minute break half way through which is again the first time I've known this. Having just come back from an 18 month enforced break, though, I'm really not surprised that she has this break.

The show was split into 7 acts and the encore. The acts were called Homecoming, Everything Taboo, Samsara, Athletica, Dream, Pop Paradiso and Dance Of The Cybermen. The first part of the show featured the first four acts. During the Homecoming section, Kylie featured the only new song in the set which was co-written by the Scissor Sisters. The song is called "White Diamond".

Behind the stage and to both sides were big screens. These kept showing images while Kylie was off stage doing her costume changes and also during the performance too. They also showed music videos during the break. After Kylie had performed "Kids", she went off stage for a 20 minute break. She returned, sitting on a large silver moon and treated us to a stunning rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" followed by a beautiful ballad version of "Come Into My World".

The biggest reception of the evening (apart from when Kylie took the stage initially) was for "I Believe In You". This song was unofficially adopted by Kylie's fans when she was ill as a message to Kylie. She stood on top of a tall tower while singing this song, which has become one of my favourites. During the encore, after singing "Especially For You", Kylie had a chat with the audience and someone asked her to sing "Got To Be Certain" which she did! The show then finished with all the dangers, singers and band in a line with Kylie in the middle, just making a noise by stamping their feet louder and louder! As I said earlier, this was the third time I've seen Kylie live, and was the best, made even more special with it being her first UK date after being ill. Welcome back, Kylie.
